At Saint Ann Catholic Church, we warmly welcome Adult Catholics, baptized as infants in the Roman Catholic Church, who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation and are seeking to complete Christian Initiation and grow in their Catholic faith.
The Adult Confirmation Program is designed for: · Baptized Catholics who have not received First Eucharist and/or Confirmation · Baptized Catholics who now wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation
Program Structure The Adult Confirmation program is divided into two parts: · Inquiry Period: A 10-week Period where candidates review and ask questions about the faith, the Bible, Jesus, Mary, the Saints, and the teachings of the Church. Sessions are offered virtually. · Formation Period: A deeper, in-person preparation leading to the reception of the Sacraments.
Expectations for Candidates · Regular participation in Sunday Mass · Attendance at Inquiry and Formation sessions · Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation · Participation in the Call to Continuing Conversion at the Cathedral of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark during Lent · Reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation on a Sunday of the Easter season or on Pentecost Sunday Please note: It may be the case that an adult Catholic baptized as an infant will need both Confirmation and Eucharist to complete Christian Initiation. The Sacraments of Christian Initiation are Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. If this is your situation, you will receive your First Eucharist or First Communion at the Mass in which the Rite of Confirmation is celebrated.
Support & Resources Candidates receive online resources with access to both Symbolon and Formed.org to help explore the Catholic faith. Our dedicated catechists will provide lesson plans, guidance and personal support throughout the journey.
