A message from your Local Safe Environment Coordinator: Staci Zegler:
WELCOME!

We as a Parish Community, are committed to maintaining a Safe Environment within all aspects of our Church Family. The Universal Catholic Church requires all employees and volunteers participating in Ministries in direct contact with children and vulnerable adults to be trained in Protecting God’s Children, (PGC).

The Parish Ministries currently requiring PGC Training are:
- Ushers & Greeters
- Faith Formation: includes Catechists, assistants and helpers
- Holy Name Society

What is required for Protecting God’s Children Training?
- Complete PGC Application
(separate applications for Volunteers and Employees)
- Create Profile in Charity Quest
- Create Profile in Virtus
- Complete background check
(Volunteer pays for background check via Virtus)
- Attend and complete PGC session via Virtus
- Read and Sign Archdiocese of Newark Code of Conduct
(hard copy of signature page required)
- Submit hard copies/original in sealed envelope to Staci Zegler, LSEC/Local Safe
Environment Coordinator of Saint Ann Catholic Church via the Parish Office.

TO BEGIN:
1. SIGN UP/create profile for Charity Quest; please click link. Charity Quest is an online service our parish uses to schedule volunteers and additionally, will assist in tracking both Volunteers and Employees requiring Protecting God’s Children.

2. Once you have completed your Charity Quest Sign Up, you will be directed to
A. set up meeting with Staci Zegler, Local Safe Environment Coordinator
B. Complete Profile in VIRTUS. At Virtus, please create profile and note the following:
- Select Newark NJ as the Archdiocese where Saint Ann Catholic
Church is located.
- Create USER ID and PASSWORD. KEEP both USER ID and Password in a safe place as you will need it to re-login on Virtus for classes or to update your profile.
- Please enter your LEGAL NAME/ADDRESS as it appears on your driver's license, passport or other government-issued ID and contact information. Full legal name is required.
- Select Primary Location is Saint Ann Hoboken
- Select Primary Role is either VOLUNTEER or EMPLOYEE (Parish Parochial)
- Select FUNCTION is Catechist, Usher and or Parent
- continue and follow prompts to the complete the following:
- complete the Archdiocese of Newark Code of Conduct;
- choose, attend and complete Protecting God's Children for Adults session;
- complete Background Check.

3. Click and complete the Application that applies to you:
- EMPLOYEE APPLICATION
- VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

4. UPON COMPLETION, SUBMIT the following to Staci Zegler, Local Safe Environment Coordinator
of Saint Ann Catholic Church:
- Completed Application
- Signature Page of Code of Conduct
- Copy of PGC Certificate of Completion of Session
- Completed Background Check (via online)

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED PGC TRAINING in another parish, contact Staci Zegler, Local Safe Environment Coordinator (LSEC) of Saint Ann Catholic Church via email: [email protected]. You will be required to complete the following:
- Sign-Up for Charity Quest
- Set up Meeting with LSEC
- Complete and submit the following items, in a sealed envelope to LSEC via Parish Office:
- Volunteer/Employee Application
- Update Virtus profile
- Submit Signature Sheet for Archdiocese of Newark Code of Conduct
- Submit proof of completion of background check
- Submit copy of PGC Session Certificate of Completion unless it has expired
